In our first new case study of 2024, we delve into this striking modern kitchen in Harpenden designed by Michael at Brampton Interiors.
Our client was looking for a contemporary kitchen design for their large open-plan space, focusing on functionality, style, and a bold colour scheme featuring strong colours, including black.
They wanted the kitchen layout to incorporate an island with seating for four people, serving as a central hub for both cooking and socialising. In short, the design was meant to prioritise seamless integration with the overall aesthetic of the space while ensuring practicality and ease of use.
The only technical challenge with this kitchen was that the original back wall had a number of structural piers supporting steel beams above them. As such, this would have interfered with the overall aesthetic of the kitchen sink run.
My solution was to build a false wall the full length of the extension and pull all of the units forward, therefore avoiding the structural piers.
The star of the show in my opinion is the choice of work surfaces. The laminam Noir Desir against the graphite furniture and super white quartz on the island offers:
I love the colour palette in this kitchen. With the addition of the bar furniture which matches the mirror, the space is tied together beautifully.
The addition of the natural oak shelving also adds a touch of warmth in concert with the veining in the Noir Desir surfaces.
